What a fantastic super sale!!!!

We have had lots of fun making our items to sell in our super sale. We were great shopkeepers, welcoming customers in and giving them the right change. By the end we were sold out! Thank you everyone for visiting. 

Mad about minibeasts

We have started our brand new topic this week, and it's all about minibeasts! You have really enjoyed it so far, and have produced some amazing pieces of work. To help you find out some more information, can you complete any Purple Mash activity linked to Minibeasts! If you type 'minibeasts' into the search box, there will be a choice of activity for you to do! 

Get creative, I can't wait to see what you bring in! 

I also sent home a new learning log challenge today, again all about minibeasts! Be as creative as you can and remember that it doesn't have to be stuck into your book. If you wish to make a 3D model or something similar you may.

Dreams dreams dreams

We have had such a delightful time writing about and drawing our dreams this week. We found a dream catcher in Ruby's bag, and so we thought we should make our own. Here are a selection of photos of us making our very own dream catchers. 

Happy Easter

Well you have been working ever so hard this last term, so time for a well deserved relax! I hope the Easter bunny brings you all a delicious treat! 

To keep you occupied over the break, I will be sending home a new number journal task about number bonds, as well as a new learning log challenge. If you have not completed your task on Dreams then please so so over the holiday. Your new challenge will then be to create something about Easter. Remember to be as creative as you can. I always look forward to seeing what wonderful work you bring in. 

As always there will be another purple mash activity for you to complete. Log onto purple mash via the school website. Remember the username and password is year 1.

In the search bar type in 'Easter'. The. Click on 'Easter poster'. I would like you to get your poetry on and create a beautiful or funny poem about Easter.

Special object

Please can everyone bring in a special object with them to school tomorrow as we will be completing an activity all about it later on this week. 

An example may be a cuddly toy from birth or something which created a lovely memory from a special holiday! 

I can't wait to see them. 

Your new Purple Mash challenge!

It's time to get creative with your new Purple Mash challenge! 

Log onto the school website and click on the Purple Mash tab.

Log in details are as before, year 1, year 1.

In the search bar type in 'nocturnal animals', and then click on ' nocturnal animal captions'. 

Follow the instructions on the video and get started! 

I would love you to write some descriptive sentences. Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops! 

Those who complete this will get a special prize! 

And at the end of the day we really enjoyed eating the pancakes

We have gone pancake mad in Dosbarth Melyn today! We now know why we celebrate Shrove Tuesday, and even shared our ideas about what we would give up for lent. Here is a selection of the activities we have completed. We hope you enjoy looking through them.

What fantastic learning logs!

I am really impressed with your latest learning log challenge to create something related to nocturnal animals. I was really impressed with the way this child chose to draw detailed illustrations as well as writing different facts about some animals who are nocturnal.

Your latest purple mash challenge!

Well it's nearly time for half term Dosbarth Melyn, but to keep your brains busy I'd like you to have a go at creating an information booklet all about nocturnal animals as this will be our new topic when you come back to school. To find it follow these simple instructions. 

1). Log onto the internet and our school website at www.stgwladysbargoed.com

2). Clock on the purple mash icon at the bottom of the screen.

3). Search 'nocturnal' and then click on ' information about nocturnal animals'.

4). Create your amazing information booklet.

I cannot wait to see what amazing creations you come up with already. There will be a special treat for those who complete this challenge.

The story of St. David

Today we worked very hard in Dosbarth Melyn to learn all about our patron Saint of Wales, St. David. We sequenced the story in the correct order to help us make our very own storyboards. You produced some fantastic pieces of writing today. I am very proud. 

Bendigedig star's of the week

A big well done to our two star's of the week. You have shown a fantastic improvement in your reading and writing skills. Keep it up.

We found some ice!

This morning we found some ice as it had snowed last night. We started to notice that it was melting. This was because our hands were warm. We know that when some solids become warm they turn into a liquid. 

We love reading everyday!

At the end of today we chose a fantastic book to read. It was called Spookyrumpus. Here we all are pulling our scariest faces!

We love ICT

We enjoyed visiting the ICT suite yesterday to type up our Winter recipes. Don't forget to look on the school website to see photographs of us working hard in there! 

Purple mash!

This week I would like you to log into purple mags from the school website and write or create something to do with the seasons. This could include the months of the year. There will be a special treat for those who complete it!

Welcome back Dosbarth Melyn, I am glad to hear that you have all had a lovely Christmas. Welcome to the new Spring Term. You have all shown a fantastic attitude so far so keep it up! Just a little reminder to keep checking our class blog for information about what we do in class, and any up and coming events. Remember that PE takes place every Friday, so pleas make sure that you have the correct kit into school.
