Bringing work home

As this is our last week of term we will be sending home lots of Christmas craft, cards and additional work from the year so far. Please could you send a carrier bag with your child tomorrow, which we will use to store it all in.

I would like to thank all of those who attended our Nativity concert today. I'm sure like me you are incredibly proud of what they produced. Thank you once more for all of your support in my first term at St. Gwladys.

Your Christmas purple mash activity

Hello boys and girls, here is your purple mash activity to complete over the Christmas break. Our topic for the new term will be changes, so to help start you off, I would like you to create a winter snow poem. To access this please do the following:

Log on to purple mash, year 1, year 1. 

Search 'winter' and then click on the snow poem icon. 

Watch the video to help find some inspiration, and then write your poem. Use photos from the internet or the examples provided to decorate it too. 

Save it as 'poem' and then your name under Dosbarth Melyn. 

I cannot wait to read your wonderful creations.

Ice skating

Hello boys and girls, just a quick reminder about our visit to the ice rink this Thursday. As it states on your letter, please ensure you wear long socks, bring a pair of gloves to wear and learn your shoe size so that we will be able to get the right pair of skates for you as quick as we can!

Concert lines

We have been singing our songs and learning our lines in class ready for our nativity concert, and you have been doing a fabulous job so far! Remember to practise your lines at home now every night! You can do it! 

Children in need

Dosbarth Melyn all looked amazing this morning dressed in their pyjamas and onesies. We have already raised lots of money so thank you all very much!

Fantastic effort last week Dosbarth Melyn, you worked very hard as a team, earning the ten flowers you needed to earn our class treat! We enjoyed a delicious milky hot chocolate at the end of the day. Some of you had never tasted hot chocolate before, and told me how yummy you thought it was. 

You have already earned one flower this morning. I wonder if we will have our class treat this week... 

Purple Mash

Here is your next purple mash task Dosbarth Melyn. Can you design and make a safety poster to help warn others about keeping safe during a fireworks display? Think about the things you need to wear, what you may need to do, who will light the fireworks, and where your pets need to stay. Use the pictures to help you. 

Save your work into the Dosbarth Melyn file, then the Fireworks file, with your name as the title. I cannot wait to see them on a Monday morning! Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Why we are all special.

In our SEAL lesson yesterday we discussed what makes us special. Here we are giving one another a lovely complement. It made us feel really important. 

Purple mash

Prynhawn da Dosbarth Melyn. Over half term I would like you to have a go at completing your first Purple Mash activity. 

Here is how to do it.

1). Click on purple mash on the school website homepage.

2). Login username is year 1, password year 1. 

3). Choose the Autumn box. 

4). Choose Autumn under Autumn paint projects. 

5). Carry out the activity, drawing a Autumn picture and writing a short sentence underneath. 

6). Then save it by clicking the save folder, and save into Dosbarth Melyn. Save it in the Autumn file by writing your name and what it is e.g. Miss Francis Autumn. 

We will then print them in school. If you do not have access to a computer or the internet please do not worry. You can still create a beautiful collage using different kinds of material and write a sentence to go with it. 

I look forward to seeing what wonderful Autumnal creations you can make.

We are writing letters

On Monday we had a special letter from Jimmy, an old man who sent us some magic beans. We were very excited! We thought it would be a lovely idea to write him a letter to thank him for those magic beans. Here we are writing our letters. 

Learning Logs

On Friday Dosbarth Melyn will be taking home their brand new Learning Logs. You have two weeks to complete the activity about 'Bonfire Night'. Please could you bring the Learning Logs back on Monday 4th November. Remember to use the 'inspiration page' for ideas, but the choice is yours. You may like to write a story, poem or description. You may wish to draw, collage or create your very own picture. I can't wait to see what fabulous creations you come up with.

Number journals

This Wednesday and Thursday I would like to welcome you to come into Dosbarth Melyn to work with your child/children on their brand new Number Journals. There will be invitations being sent home tomorrow identifying what day your child/children will be using them. I very much look forward to seeing you and hope you can make it.
